Start from the basics — this is what separates winning players from losing ones
Don't play every hand. From early position, stick to AA, KK, QQ, AKs, AQs, and a select few other strong hands. Learning to be patient and selective with your starting hands is the first skill every poker player needs to master.
Playing from a late position (dealer button) gives you an edge because you act after your opponents. Avoid playing weak hands from early position — this is one of the most common mistakes new players make.
Calculate pot odds before calling. If your probability of winning is greater than the required call ratio, calling is the mathematically correct decision.
Pay attention to your opponents' bet sizing, action patterns, and physical tells. Every action reveals information about the strength of their hand. Build a mental picture of their hand range.
Once you've identified a pattern in your opponent's play, adjust your strategy accordingly. Opponent calling too often? Value bet big with strong hands. Opponent folding too much? Bluff more frequently from the right position.
